Grateful.

Today I am in a thoughtful mood.  Thinking of all that has gone on to make my life so wonderful and thinking on all the people I know that are hurting right now has made me feel so incredibly grateful for the atonement and God's love.  Recently a girl from my stake who went to my high school took her own life.  I didn't know her well and I don't know why, but I do know that she is loved by everyone that came in contact with her.  What I remember is that she could make anyone smile and everyone wanted to be her friend.  She was a talented beautiful girl and I am grateful for Jesus Christ who is taking very good care of her and whose atonement can heal any hurting heart.

I was also talking to a friend of mine who came home from his mission early.  It made me so sad to see how defeated he felt.  I'm grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who knows each of his children and is always there to help build up the humble who turn to him.

I took time to think about all of the people I love and how grateful I am for all of them.  They bless me daily with their kindness, love, personalities, and humor.  I can't imagine what it would be like if one of them were gone.  I was sure to thank Heavenly Father individually for many of the people that have blessed and changed my life for the better.

I am so grateful for these girls.  I love them so much more than I can express.  They have been my best friends all of my life, I'm so glad that families are forever.

I love each one of my cousins so much.  They laugh with me, cry with me, and help me through anything I'm struggling with.

I am so grateful for my immediate family.  Every time I go home I realize it more and more.

I'm grateful for my dad and all he does for me.  He helps me with my financial problems, computer problems, emotional problems, you name it. I am so grateful for all of the hard work he does.  I can't imagine how hard it would be to balance all of the responsibilities he has, but he does in wonderfully. Thank you dad!!

I'm grateful for my mom and all she does for me.  I know that she always does what is best for me and the rest of the family.  I know she could be spending her time doing a lot of other things but she is always driving someone somewhere, taking kids or other ward members to the temple, doing family history work, and bringing our family together.  I'm so grateful for her never ending desire to do good and teach her children to do the same.  Thank you so much mom!

I am grateful for Mallory, she has always been my best friend.  Its still weird that we live in different apartments and have different lives, but I always have fun with her and I'm so grateful that I've always been able to share whatever I'm feeling with her.  She is so amazingly beautiful, spiritual, and fun. I love her so much!

I am grateful for Spencer.  Man I wish we were one year closer in age so we could have had one year in high school together! Every time I go home I ask him for all the updates on PGHS.  Last night I took him to ask a girl to Sweethearts.  Man he's growing up fast!! I'm so grateful for his addictive sense of humor but his sweet kind personality.

I am grateful for Alex, he reminds me so much of myself.  Its interesting to see him start worrying about what he wears and what he gets involved in. As he is trying to choose what teams, clubs, etc to try out for next year I can see a lot of the same insecurities and determination that I had.  I love coming home and hearing whatever new story or comment he has, I'm so grateful for his funny and sweet personality.

I am grateful for Jake.  What a sweet sweet kid he is.  Sometimes he's a fireball, sometimes he's a goof, but he's always full of love and just what I need to turn a frown upside down.  I love seeing whatever new neon colored soccer item he wants to buy and I love hearing about his student council adventures. I can't express my gratitude for the love and help he gives me whenever I see him.  He is always running around doing me favors, telling me stories, and smiling. I'm so grateful for a loving little brother like him.

I am grateful for Becca.  She is a gorgeous little girl with a spunky personality and a unique sense of humor.  She always has something to tell me and I love hearing the new jokes she comes up with.  Its interesting to see how much she tries to be like me and Mal, it must be hard to be the youngest and live at home with all the boys but I love her happy lively attitude.  I'm so grateful for a loving little sister that  pays lots of attention to what and how people are doing.  She is going to grow up to be one beautiful spunky girl.

Lastly I just wanted to say how grateful I am for this kid:

He is always so willing to drive down here and back from SoJo without a complaint. He makes every bad day the best day ever, he sends me sweet texts randomly to make me smile, and he does everything he can to make me happy.  I am so so so so incredibly grateful for him :)

Updates.

Well.  I stink.  I know.  I have been soooooo lame when it comes to blogging.  Id say its because I'm busy (because I am) but thats really not the reason.  Its because pinterest is waaaaaaaay too addictive so I spend perhaps too much of my computer time scrolling through countless pictures of perfectly painted nails, flawless outfits, and cutesy quotes.  So I thought I'd rejoin all of you in the blogger world with a little update post and some really crappy quality pictures :)

So sundays are probably my busiest but favorite day.  I now have meetings and assignments to take care of all day long.  This sunday was a rare exceptionk I was actually able to sit back and relax for a few hours.  So I made cookies and cream brownies (pinterest) recipe:

Then both of the Caitlins and I did each others hair and took some pretty great pictures (super beautiful, I know) It was a good day.

Yesterday wasn't quite so fun and relaxing.  It was a day full of lots of tears for everyone in my apartment.  Cassidy's best friend Nick Varney is leaving on his mission today and Cassidy had to finally say goodbye for the next two years.  It was rough.  When she walked in after classes I couldn't help bursting into tears just seeing how hard it was for her.  Then I started crying even harder when I thought about how hard it will be for me too.  It was just all over emotional.  So we watched chick flicks, talked, ate ice-cream, and laughed a lot to lighten it up a bit.  Yay for girls nights :)

Overall, life has been pretty good.  My classes are pretty easy and I love what I'm learning.  I have some pretty great people in my life to say the least.  All of the girls In my apartment and Kaitlyn Clark (basically our 4th roommate) have decided to go on a mission. It will be so fun to see where and when we are going. I can't wait to see what the future brings!

Winter....Wonderland?

I'm loving Winter, but I'm absolutely hating it.  How does that even work? I've had a runny nose for weeks now and the ground is literally a sheet of ice. Yes, I ice-skated to class today. Its so cold that my hair freezes and my thighs feel like a block of ice.  Thank goodness for boots with traction and warm buildings.  I think I take detours through every single one I pass on my way to class.

But, of course, its not all that bad, for example:

Soldier Hollow and Chilis on Niks birthday = BEST DAY EVER.

Just hanging out with my best friend :)

Spontaneous photoshoots with Kaitlyn's new camera.  Freezing.  But Fun.

The best thing is that no matter what the crazy weather brings, there are always plenty of people to bring good memories right along with it!

Changes

I apologize for going AWOL for a bit.  Things have been a little bit crazy.  This semester has brought so many new and exciting changes.  I can tell that this will be a challenging, yet very rewarding semester.  One of the most obvious changes this semester is a completely new set of classes. I seriously could not be more ecstatic.  No more Physical Science, American Heritage, and best of all, NO MORE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING!!!!!!  (Sorry dad.... haha)

My new classes fit my personality and interests much better.  The class I'm probably most excited about is my Intro to Entrepreneurship class.  Holy Cow talk about an answer to many prayers.  As I was signing up for classes the only class that seemed to fit into my schedule was this business class.  I LOVED competing in DECA but I still didn't want to take this class because I was sort of intimidated.  I kept praying that I could get into the classes I wanted in order to explore future careers but nothing was working out.... except this entrepreneurship class.  My roommate and I walked in on the first day and I felt a huge rush of the spirit  .  I can't even describe the peaceful happy and exciting feeling that pulsed through me as I listened to the first lecture of this class, I know that.  I still don't know what career is best for me but I do know that this class will help me to learn and accomplish all that Heavenly Father has in store for me.  I am so excited to learn all that I can from this phenomenal class.

A change that hasn't been quite as enjoyable is my boyfriend moving back to South Jordan.  Its good for me......But that doesn't mean I like it haha.  Its just kinda hard when all I want to do is call him up and have him come over so I can show him the family history I did.  Or make dinner with him.  Or have someone to talk to and snuggle with when I had a bad day.  But it has also been really great to start focusing more on missions and being able to spend more time apart.  Its a blessing, even if its not a blessing I like at this particular moment.

Another recent change has been my calling.  I have loved being an FHE mom.  So fun.  Best Calling.  Except not really, because my new calling is.  I was recently called as Relief Society president.  At first I was really intimidated.  Now, I'm loving it.  What a blessing it has been in my life already.  I have gotten to meet new people, and get more involved in church and where I live.  If you know much of anything about me you know that I looooooooovvveeeee getting involved, planning things, and participating in leadership.  I may not be the best Relief Society president ever but I sure am going to try.  I may not love getting up earlier to go to a bunch of meetings every Sunday, but I really do love spending my time on productive things that I have a passion for.  This is going to be a great semester.  I can't wait to see what it brings!

4 months

Well, I promise I'll give an update on my Christmas festivities when I find the chord to my camera. Today what's been on my mind is missions.  More specifically Nik's mission.  The first thing I thought when I woke up today was, OH MY GOSH NIK MIGHT GET HIS CALL TODAY.  That was pretty much the only thought on my mind until 2 pm when it switched to OH MY GOSH NIK HAS HIS CALL.  So lucky me, already got to Skype with him twice today, once to figure out if he had gotten his call and again when I got to watch him open it.

Nikora was called to the Germany, Frankfurt mission, he reports to the MTC May 1st 2013.  I have 4 months left with my best friend.  He leaves the day before my 19th birthday.  I'm so grateful for such a wonderful example, he will be a wonderful missionary.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Christmas time is here.  In other words, Happiness is here.  The two words are most definitely synonymous.

Awesome fact about Christmas time: No School

Finals week was fun, hard, painful, rewarding, and best of all it is......OVER.

( This is what we do in our study time.  My cousin Nate joined in too. )

Second awesome fact about Christmas time:  Everything looks beautiful

Nik and I went and saw the lights at Temple Square last night.  It was another one of those best dates ever.  I looked like a two year old the whole time driving up because I freaked out over every falling snowflake and twinkling Christmas light we saw (This is a season long phenomenon).  We stopped in daybreak to open the Christmas presents that we gave each other.  I might have cried a bit, I'm going to miss him while he's in New Zealand over the break.  Then we went to the Roof in Salt Lake.  I love the Roof, everything is so yummy and the view is breathtaking.  It was really fun to see how far we had both come since the last time we went there in July.

One of my favorite things about Christmas is just walking around looking at everything and anything with Christmas decorations.  Nik and I walked through City Creek for a while, I couldn't help smiling everywhere we went as I thought about the blessing Nik has been in my life and how that all started right there in SLC during our International DECA competition.

I am so grateful for the peace felt at Christmas as I reflect on all of the many blessings I have! I have had such a fun and enlightening first semester of college and I look forward to another one!
